“The whole difference between construction and creation is exactly this: that a thing constructed can only be loved after it is constructed; but a thing created is loved before it exists.”

Charles Dickens

Magic of Creation

Creating something out of nothing is the domain where the different artists like the painter, the musician or the writer play their game. They create a world for themselves, a world that is intricate and intriguing, they set the rules and passionately rule the self defined kingdom. A kingdom built on the platform of the artist’s imagination and inspiration. In fact these are powerful and unfathomable source of infinite energy that ignites the magic of creation.

A writer to weave a story is not about putting the sequence and series of events and actions in a structure using the magic of words, but it is the creation of a new idea or development of a new concept which is not in existence. The writer has to pick up the words, the places, the characters, the events, the conflicts from his/her world of imagination, inspiration through observations and conversations. The writer has to be constantly in vigil and critically visualize the scenes and happenings to create a piece which passionately touches the hearts of the readers.

A painter to paint a canvas has to work with different colours and multiple mediums to express his/her imagination or inspiration on the canvas. The painter unshackles the boundary of canvas, it can brush the paper, the wall, the wood, the glass or for that matter just a clay or stone. The colours and composition shapes the form and structure making it connected with our senses and fiddling magically with the sensibilities of the viewer and admirer. What drives and defines the painter are the perceptions and the perspectives of his/her thought and the presentation and representation in the window of canvas.

And regarding the musician it is no difference. Only the mode of expression shifts and everything else remains the same. The musician has to use the meaningful words, mix and match with the array of sound and play with his/her god gifted vocal chord to create magic in the ears of listeners. Everybody can sing to one’s tune but few create magic with their voice to make others swing to their tune. A musician who composes and sings juggles with the hat of a writer and a painter to choose the right word and create a canvas of meaning and message to our soul.

Mostly artists are bit crazy and little hazy in their world of working. They intentionally built that fog to fathom a new world of creation when it clears. We cherish the clear sky more not because it is clear but the cloudy sky was blocking our imagination. The mystical creation of beauty and meaning by the artists are sheer joy of magic.

Artist – musicians, painters, writers, poets, always seem to have had the most accurate perception of what is really going on around them, not the official version or the popular perception of contemporary life.
